Ranting and Raving

I was reading over this blog and I realized I don't post very much. So, I'm here to go on a general Splinter Cell rave.
Here goes..
I was having a conversation with some other SC fans and someone mentioned something that REALLY scared me.
Ubisoft REALLY needs to stop dating the Splinter Cell games.
Everytime Ubisoft puts the date in the Splinter Cell games, Sam gets older. And as much as I love Sam, it's not going to be believable that Sam is still kicking bad guy butt when hes 82. He's perfect at the age of 51. Let's leave him this way. His years and experience have made him wise, clever and a master of his craft, but the dating of the games is going to force us to watch yet another "American Bad Ass" drift relucantly into old age. I don't know about you, but I don't want to see that. Maybe someone at Ubi should take a page from the Flemming/Benson book. James Bond has been the same age for decades because they don't date the books/movies. If 007 can be tristing with Halle Berry in 2002, there is no reason Sam can't still be lurking in the shadows in the year 2050 (as long as Ubisoft doesn't force him to get older). The character has so much staying power if they will just keep Sam young.
Also, whatever happened to Sarah? I think that character is way more important to the series than she is being treated.
Anyone who has met me knows I am a big fan of Michael Ironside, but he made a comment about Sam once that I have to disagree with.
While out promoting Pandora Tomorrow, he said that Sam was incapable of giving or receiving affection. I disagree, and my reason is the same reason why I wish we would see more of Sarah.
Sarah is what keeps Sam human. Sam spends so much time out in foreign countries doing God knows what, we often forget he is a person. In SC1, when Nickoladze first declares war on the US and Sam says "I need to see Sarah!" that is one of those rare times we see the whole character for everything he is. Bad Ass Field Operative AND a father.
Now, let's talk about Lambert for a minute. I would like to point out as much as we say Sam is a "cold killer", Lambert is the hardass if you ask me. Let's reflect on some of Lamberts memorable quotes, shall we?

"Leave the corpse for the fire. Less to explain to his family."
"Fisher! If you compromise this mission for those men..."
"Don't get caught Fisher. We can't help you if you do."
Lambert had better watch it. I don't think he will be going into the field if something happens to Sam be it an injury or retirement. Besides, Ol' Lambo would die once he found out there is no coffee on the front.
Anyway, that's it for now. I have computer class soon. Thanks for stopping by and as always, I love to chat with other gamers so feel free to email me anytime at Jackie@thefairersects.com.
