TFS statement on Raymond Benson Interview
I'm here to make a post to clear up a few things. Let me state now that I do not speak for Raymond Benson, Ubisoft, Rubicon, Paramount, Dreamworks, Yves Guillemot, Michael Ovitz, or Tom Clancy. I am only speaking for myself.
Within the last few weeks, TFS has been all over video game and movie websites because of my interview I did with Raymond Benson, more specifically, his comment about the script for the upcoming SC movie being original and not based on any of the games, or the two best selling SC novels. Well, it's amazing to me how people have twisted that comment. I have seen websites posting things that are so far off from the truth that I'm very worried about TFS's credibility.
A perfect example of the "comment twisting" in question can be found at Gamespot.com. The comment in question is:
However, reports surfaced today that the big-screen adaptation of Splinter Cell may stray even further from its game roots.
The comment "stray even further from it's game roots" is a major twisting of what was being said.
Here is the primary point I want to make:
Benson never said or even insinuated that the movie was going to "stray even further from its game roots". His only statement was that the film's plot will not be based on the story lines of the books or the games. Plain and simple. I don't know where people got the idea that the movie would stray from the usual SC format, but it wasn't from anything said on this site.
I, as owner of this site beg that you email me if you have any questions about anything anyone else says they took from this site. I'm terribly sorry for the misunderstanding and hope such instances can be avoided in the future.
