ConViction still Microsoft exclusive, despite speculation.
Posted by Jackie on 01-23-2009 14:31
Speaking during a conference call following the company's third-quarter financial report, Ubisoft has re-confirmed that Splinter Cell Conviction will be an Xbox 360 exclusive.
Sam Fisher's highly anticipated and somewhat delayed next outing was announced as an Xbox 360 and Games for Windows exclusive back at X06 in September 2006, but after reports of development problems and a perpetually slipping release date Ubisoft went quiet on the game.
Today the publisher confirmed that the game is due for release in the 12-month period starting April 1, 2009. If you don't own an Xbox 360 and were hoping the delays were down to a new multi-format development strategy, you're sadly still out of luck.

Manythanks to Lucy for bringing this to my attention.

Apparently "Rudder" looks like "Ironside".
Posted by Jackie on 12-24-2008 11:22
Sadly, Canadian voice actor Michael Rudder was injured during the recent terrorist attacks in India. Rudder has done voice work for Ubisoft in the past.
However, despite the fact the people tried to be clear when reporting the incident the article has left a lot of people with the idea that Michael Ironside was the one who was shot.

Word from Camp Ironside on Splinter Cell
Posted by Jackie on 07-25-2008 14:24
I emailed David Ginsberg, Ironside's manager, on the issue as it relates to Splinter Cell. The info I received from him counters that from the website saying Ironside has been replaced. Here is the statement I received.
"thank you for your email. there are plenty of rumors circling but the truth is that Ubisoft is still working on the script/game and that there has been no conversations about Michael as of yet, casting may not even begin until later this year. as far as any rumors about ego and being difficult to work with, it couldn't be more incorrect. in fact those that have worked, produced and recorded with him had a great time and enjoyed his professionalism as well. there was nobody at Ubisoft who said anything otherwise - those are all fabricated rumors, and they unfortunately hurt both Ubisoft and Michael. those who report and publish rumors do nothing more than spread falsities without checking facts.
thank you again and we (including Michael) are very appreciative of your concern."

Ironside rumor confirmed. NOT returning as Sam Fisher
Posted by Jackie on 07-24-2008 14:46
An interview with Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot has confirmed Michael Ironside will not be returning for the voice of Sam Fisher in the upcoming, Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: ConViction.
Obviously, the Fisherists are very unhappy about this and have implored Ubisoft to change their minds. For myself, I have contacted Ironside's manager for some kind of word from his end on things. I can't promise a response but if I get one I will post it here ASAP.

I could say I'm sorry about how long it's been since the site has been up but I could never express it correctly.
I don't know what happened but our former host...has seemingly fallen off the face of the earth. No messages returned for months. So, we have a new host and a new identity!
The domain name of thefairersects.com had to be abandoned unfortunately. So now we are the Fisherists.com.
Fisherists? Fan girls? Damn right!
Matix and I will be working to get fully functional ASAP. Hopefully will have some news to update with soon.

ConViction Delayed
Posted by Jackie on 11-20-2007 17:34
There was news posted on some websites that ConViction was delayed until April. A few of my friends questioned the credibility of these websites, so I checked with Splinter Cell Community Manager for Ubisoft, Jinx, and she confirmed that indeed, ConViction has been delayed until at least April.
So, while this sucks on one hand, on the other, we know we will get a more polished game in the long run.

FUCK!
Posted by Jackie on 11-20-2007 00:41
Ubisoft Central Clancy Writer and Red Storm Manager of Design Richard Dansky has a story title "The Connecting Door" featured on http://pseudopod.org/. This is really a great story and I highly recommend it. But be warned, apparently this story holds a record at pseudopod for having the word "fuck" used more than any other story in the history of the site. Have some water in a cup around for when your ears inevitably catch on fire.

I want to congratulate RowdySpy, JCDELTA1138 and Sweaza for winning the haiku contest! They all did a great job!
Also, there will be a chat here with David Michaels on November 16th at 8 pm US Mountain time at the TFS forums. If you have a question or comment about Fallout, now would be the time to bring it to him. I look forward to seeing everyone there.
